OLSARO IS AN AGRITECH COMPANY ROOTED IN 10+ YEARS OF RESEARCH EXCELLENCE AND DRIVEN BY A MISSION TO SAFEGUARD GLOBAL FOOD SECURITY.

Cereals account for a large proportion of global diets- yet investment in innovative solutions to protect yields remains limited- despite increasing climate challenges. Addressing this gap is crucial to ensuring long-term food security and agricultural resilience.

Through cutting-edge technology and a strong commitment to safeguarding food security, OlsAro partners with seed companies to drive meaningful progress. By expanding access to climate-resilient cereals, we aim to support farmers, protect yields, and contribute to a more sustainable and secure global food system for future generations

OUR TEAM OF EXPERTS

The OlsAro team is driven by a commitment to sustainability and the urgent need for climate-resilient crops. With deep expertise in agriculture and a foundation of decades of biotechnology research from Gothenburg and Lund University, we operate at the intersection of science and real-world impact.

Our goal is to deliver globally scalable solutions that meet the dual challenge of global food security and the demands of seed companies ensuring that seed innovation reaches the farmer fields where it matters most.

JONAS DANIELSON

Molecular Biologist

Jonas Danielson is a molecular biologist with a strong background in plant physiology and stress biology. He earned his Ph.D. from Lund University, where his research focused on aquaporins—membrane proteins involved in water transport—and their roles in plant stress responses. He has experience from Stanford University, and his work has contributed to understanding how plants manage water under challenging environmental conditions. At OlsAro, Jonas leads lab-based research activities, including gene editing, trait validation, and experimental design.

RANA ESSA

Business Developer

Rana Essa has a background in biotechnology and business development, with prior experience in sales and account management roles. She holds a bachelor's degree in biotechnology and a master's in Business Creation in Biomedicine. Her academic foundation in biotechnology, combined with her business experience, supports her role in driving OlsAro's mission to develop climate-resilient crops.

EMMA EGONSON

Lab Technician

Emma Egonson is a lab technician with a background in sustainable genetic and molecular plant biology. She earned her master's degree from the Swedish  University of Agricultural Sciences, where her thesis focused on investigating heat tolerance in wheat genotypes through early phenotypical and genotypical indicators. At OlsAro, Emma supports laboratory operations, including sample preparation, phenotypic screenings, data collection, and analysis.

SAMEER HASSAN

Bioinformatics & AI

Sameer Hassan is a bioinformatics scientist with a strong background in computational biology and molecular biology. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Madras, followed by post-doctoral research at University of Gothenburg and Karolinska Institutet. At the University of Gothenburg, his research focused on the genetic mechanisms underlying plant stress responses. He further contributed to the understanding of spider silk gland structure and function through a multi-omics approach during his research at Karolinska Institutet. Sameer has co-authored several peer-reviewed publications on topics such as salt tolerance in wheat and the role of transcription factors in stress adaptation. At OlsAro, Sameer leads bioinformatics and AI development efforts, including genome analysis, data integration, and the development of the AI engine to support trait discovery.
